Day 1: HANOI TO VU LINH (THAC BA LAKE)
Meet our guides at 8 AM for an unforgettable journey. A quick briefing at BM’s tour office ensures everyone is ready for the road. Depart at 9 AM, meandering through Hanoi’s suburbs, taking in the sights of Nhat Tan Bridge, and tracing the scenic Red River levees towards Vinh Phuc Province.
We prefer back-road and off-road routes to avoid congested national roads, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable ride. Along the 40 km levee stretch, experience the rural charm of small villages nestled amid lush green fields and gardens. Lunch at 11:30 in Doan Hung commune offers a taste of local flavors.
Crossing the Lo River on a ferry, we explore the Hmong tea hills and visit quaint Dzao villages. Arriving at our homestay near Thac Ba Lake by 4:30 PM, enjoy a boat ride and a delightful dinner hosted by the Dzao community. Experience local music, dance, and traditional instruments, sipping rice wine for a truly immersive evening.

Day 2: VU LINH (THAC BA LAKE) TO HA GIANG CITY
Our second day begins with a delightful village ride, offering a glimpse into the locals’ daily lives. We’ll then cross a substantial stream and set our course for Yen The via Route 170. After just 30 minutes on the road, we arrive at the captivating O Do waterfall in Yen Bai province. A brief coffee break awaits us at Cam Nham fork before we continue, tracing the Thac Ba lakeside for some captivating sightseeing. Soon, we’ll ascend to the pinnacle of a pass on Route 170, providing us with a panoramic view overlooking the lake.As we meander through lush palm forests and alongside limestone mountains, we’ll eventually arrive at Luc Yen town. Renowned for its precious gemstones, Luc Yen is nestled amidst limestone and marble mountains, with the scenic backdrop of Thac Ba lake and the meandering Chay River. Here, we’ll savor a delightful lunch.In the afternoon, our journey takes us from Cao and Xuan Giang street to Viet Quang town, followed by a scenic ride along National Highway 2, covering another 60 km to reach Ha Giang city.
Our day concludes at Truong Xuan Resort around 5:30 pm, brimming with excitement and joy. Day two has treated us to a rich tapestry of experiences, from the stunning Thac Ba lake to the terraced rice fields of Ha Giang, all against the backdrop of Luc Yen’s towering limestone formations. We start by veering onto a narrow road, where concrete patches blend seamlessly with the rugged off-road terrain of northeast Vietnam. Along this 40 km stretch, we navigate streams, pass through quaint villages, and explore pristine forests, gradually approaching the heart of Ba Be National Park. Our lunch stop is at a local eatery, perfectly in tune with the remote surroundings – a true off-road experience!
Post-lunch, we continue our journey towards Cho Ra town, eventually arriving at Pac Ngoi, a community tourism village nestled deep within Ba Be National Park, around 4 pm. Here, we embark on a serene boat ride around the lake, and if the weather permits, you can even take a refreshing swim. Don’t forget your swimwear and towel – it’s an opportunity to embrace the natural beauty firsthand!

However, for those seeking a smoother back-road route, we provide an alternate option to ensure a timely return to Hanoi before rush hour.
Following a delicious lunch, we resume our ride on smaller national highways, eventually reaching Hanoi by 4:30 pm. This marks the conclusion of our six-day Vietnam motorbike tour, brimming with exhilarating experiences and cherished memories.
